I recently had the opportunity to put together a belly dance performance followed by a private class for a local birthday party here in Ymir BC – holy smokes what fun!!!

My host was absolutely fabulous and had everything organized perfectly: something to play the music, where the performance was situated, and she even had her own studio for us to do our private class in. What a treat!

And to top it all off, the birthday party was for a gaggle of young gals, mostly around 7 years old! So, so cute! The party theme was “Gypsy” and they were already all costumed up and ready to roll!

The performance came first and there were two immediate camps that were quickly apparent (and that I had expected with the little ones): those with humongous eyeballs that remained frozen in their mom’s lap the whole time, and those with humongous eyeballs that were accompanied by humongous grins of amazement! So sweet. I made sure to give a wink or two to them all and by the end some in the “frozen” camp were beginning to come out of their shell.

From there, onwards and upwards to the studio for a private class! I had chosen a veil piece for my performance so that we could all learn some easy moves on the veils during the class and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We had moms, little ones, and even some little sisters along for the ride and by the end, everyone was busting out their moves and dancing with their veils!

I had never done a class for little wee ones before but it turned out to be lots of fun, I’m so glad I had the opportunity!
