Having just had my 41st birthday last month I really love this one! When you’re belly dancing, mental alertness and functioning is stimulated during a time when increased oxygen is being delivered to brain cells which leads to increased memory skills. Perfect!
Dance is mentally stimulating; how could it not be? Remembering which part of the body is supposed to go here while another part stays still or goes over there at a particular point in the music requires some concentration. Having to synchronize the movements of different muscle groups also improves motor skills as an added bonus too. If you join in the belly dance classes in Nelson maybe we’ll test everyone part way through and see if you can pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time, and then we’ll see if you can do it while you’re shimmying! Now that would be impressive!
